First of all, it takes pure bloody genius to replace the Star of David with a swastika.
Class act, fellas. Class act.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the blog maintained for the Charlie Sykes radio show, a prominent part of the 620WTMJ web site, is featuring a parody of the “Coexist” bumper sticker that suggests Islam is an ideology similar to Nazism or Communism. And if that weren’t enough, the post in question insinuates that Islam is what causes terrorism, rather than, you know, terrorists.
The parody first appeared at Tom McMahon's blog, and was inspired by a guest-blogger's post at Christian Schneider's blog, Atomic Trousers.
The Atomic Trousers post, now reproduced at the Sykes blog:
“If some of the followers of the religion represented by the crescent moon “c” on your cute little bumper sticker would stop hijacking planes and blowing up buildings, coexisting would be a little easier.”
The brainpower evident behind that sentiment just multiplies in the comments at Sykes' blog:
“I posted on this as well with a 9/11 picture and one of Islamic Rage Boy. We're supposed to co-exist with this? The Religion of Piece (of Arm, of Leg, of Torso)?”
“I've always found that bumper sticker condescending, naive, and ignorant. Clearly designed by people who have no sense of the inherent and glaring differences between the deadly religion on the left and the truly peaceful one on the right…”
Oh, yeah, almost forgot: Emphasis mine.
I can’t imagine Milwaukee’s Muslim community is too thrilled about the web site for the “largest stick in the state” comparing Islam to Nazism.
I guess if I were a genius, too, I’d have to assume that, as we speak, Christians are preparing to assassinate the staff of Planned Parenthood or stand at soldiers’ funerals holding signs and screaming, “Thank God for dead soldiers.”
Does it take a genius to assume that any member of a religion is only as bad as the worst miscreant who happens to identify with that religion? I guess I’m a little slow, but if all Muslims are “Islamic Rage Boys” who practice the “The Religion of Piece (of Arm, of Leg, of Torso)?” why are we spending billions to reconstruct Iraq, most of whose citizens practice that “deadly religion”?
Speaking of geniuses, just a few weeks ago, Sykes chastised the local blogosphere for a lack of civility. I guess “civility” doesn’t apply to slurring a religion practiced by more than 1 billion people around the world—or displaying a graphic that replaces the Star of David with a swastika.
Pure Genius.
Update:
Thanks, Capper, I was feeling a bit lonely.
And yes, I’m assuming (and really, really, hoping) the substitution was unintentional, although how that escaped notice is beyond me. Really, the Star of David replaced with a swastika? Next time, run that one past just about anyone on the planet, ‘kay?
What is NOT unintentional is the offensiveness of Scheider’s comments toward the Muslim religion, or the even more reprehensible remarks left at Sykes’ blog post.

Before I went to work this morning, I looked at the "revised" bumper sticker and though..."Who the F@ck" would put that on there car. Silly me, thought it was real. As a normally right of center kind of person, I was totally disgusted. Not genius, photoshop.
Sorry it took so long to post on it. Sometimes there just isn't enough hours in a day...
The comments on Islam you quoted are disgusting.
Drive by the Mosque at 13th and Layton. You'll notice a giant American flag. Milwaukee-area Muslims are pround to be Americans, and we should be proud to have them.
Print up some Sykes images, and bring them to the advertisers.
Hhis advertisers might think twice about supporting such a radical traitor, as Sykes is.
Intolerance is not part of a free market system.
Hit him in the advertisers face. Why do they support such racist hate speech? Are they racists too?
I doubt if most of the advetisers even know, they are associated with such terrorist activites!

Email the non-profits they support with the image of the Sykes preferred sticker...and a nice note claiming you will no longer support them, and you intend to distribute this offense, to all civic groups, elected officials, the Milwaukee Journal and the FCC.
